Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 25, 2026 Last Updated: June 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how You Benefit Insurance Services and You Benefit Solar LLC ("You Benefit," "we," "us," or "our") collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information through our websites youbenefit.us and youbenefit.solar, and through the quote and contact forms on those sites.

You Benefit Insurance Services is a licensed insurance brokerage (National Producer Number 8694362) serving California, Colorado, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kansas. Our mailing address is 755 Baywood Drive, 2nd Floor, Petaluma, CA 94954. You can reach us by phone at (707) 659-6555 (group health / insurance) or (707) 789-5000 (solar), and by email at info@youbenefitca.com.

We have written this policy in plain language and try to keep it accurate to what we actually do. We do not use absolute promises like "we never share your data" or "your data is 100% secure," because no honest business can guarantee those things. Instead, we describe our real practices below.

Quick Summary (please read the full policy for details)

1. Who We Are

We operate two related brands under common ownership:

These brands are run by the same team and share the same systems and staff, so information submitted on one site may be handled by the people and infrastructure that support the other. We also operate a sister site, applycoverage.com, for individual and family coverage (see Out-of-State Processing and Links to Other Sites).

2. The Information We Collect

Information you give us

When you complete a quote or contact form, we collect what you provide. The fields differ by site:

We deliberately keep our lead forms minimal. We do not ask for Social Security numbers or detailed medical history at the quote-request stage. A licensed advisor may collect additional information later, directly from you, as part of preparing an actual application.

Information collected automatically

When you submit a form, our intake service records, on our own servers, the IP address the request came from and your browser's user-agent string (browser type, device, and operating system). We use these for security, spam prevention, and to evidence the context of your submission.

We do not use third-party web-analytics services (such as Google Analytics), and we do not use advertising or remarketing pixels or cookies on these sites. The group-health site (youbenefit.us) loads the "Inter" web font from Google Fonts; to deliver that font, Google may receive your IP address and basic request information. The solar site (youbenefit.solar) does not load third-party web fonts. We do not send your form entries to any font provider.

Information from other sources

We do not buy personal information about you from data brokers, and we do not enrich your submission with outside data. We may receive limited operational information from the service providers that help us run our sites (for example, hosting and security vendors).

3. Categories of Personal Information (California statutory categories)

For California residents, the categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months map to the following statutory categories:

We do not generate behavioral profiles or marketing inferences about you. Routing your request to the right carriers, advisors, or installers is based on simple, deterministic factors such as your ZIP code, state, and the product you asked about — not on derived inferences. We do not intentionally collect the other statutory categories (such as biometric data, precise geolocation, professional/education records, or audio/visual recordings) through our forms.

4. Sensitive Personal Information

Our standard lead forms are designed to avoid collecting sensitive personal information (such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or detailed health/medical information) at the quote-request stage.

If you choose to add health-related details in a free-text field, or if you later work with an advisor on a group-health application, that information may qualify as sensitive personal information or as health information under insurance privacy rules. Where that happens:

Because our standard use of any sensitive personal information is limited to providing the services you requested, we do not use it to infer characteristics about you for other purposes.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

We use your information only for the purposes described here or for purposes reasonably compatible with them, and we keep our collection limited to what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.

6. How We Share Your Information — and What "Submitting a Request" Means

This is a quote/lead service. When you submit a quote or contact request, you are asking us — and authorizing us — to share the information in that request, including your name, phone number, and email, with licensed insurance carriers, agents, advisors, and (for solar) installers so that they can prepare quotes and contact you about the products you requested. This consumer-directed sharing is a core part of how we deliver the service you came to us for.

We want to be clear and honest about the difference between two things:

Categories of recipients

We may disclose the categories of personal information described in Section 3 to the following categories of recipients:

Service providers vs. independent recipients

Where a recipient acts only on our behalf and is bound by contract to use the information solely to provide services to us (and not for its own purposes), we treat it as a service provider/processor, not a "sale" or "share." Carriers, advisors, and installers who receive your request to quote you are independent recipients, and we treat those transfers as a "sale"/"share" as explained above. We require contractual privacy and purpose-limitation terms with our service providers.

What we do not do

7. GLBA Privacy Notice (Insurance Producer)

As a licensed insurance brokerage, You Benefit Insurance Services is a "financial institution" under the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). This section is our GLBA privacy notice.

Nonpublic personal information (NPI) means personally identifiable financial and insurance information you give us to obtain a product or service (such as your name, contact details, the coverage you are seeking, and any application or underwriting information), and information derived from it. It does not include publicly available information.

How we share NPI:

Your GLBA opt-out: To the extent we would ever disclose your NPI to a nonaffiliated third party for a purpose that is not covered by a GLBA exception and not part of fulfilling your request (for example, that party's own marketing), you have the right to opt out of that disclosure first. You can exercise this opt-out using any of the contact methods in How to Contact Us.

California and health information: For residents of California, and for any health-related information, we apply a stricter standard: we will obtain your affirmative consent (opt-in) before disclosing your personal or health information to a nonaffiliated third party for purposes outside the exceptions above, consistent with California's insurance privacy law and the NAIC model insurance privacy regulations applied in the states we serve.

Safeguards: We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect NPI, as described in Security.

A note on HIPAA: As a standalone insurance brokerage, we are generally not a "covered entity" or "business associate" under HIPAA, and we do not claim to be "HIPAA-compliant." Health information you provide for insurance purposes is governed by GLBA and the insurance privacy rules described above. If we ever act as a business associate of a group health plan, we will handle protected health information under the applicable agreement and law.

8. Calls and Text Messages (TCPA)

How contact consent works depends on which form you use:

If we contact you by text message, the following terms apply:

For full text-program terms, contact us using the information in How to Contact Us.

9. Cookies, Web Fonts, and Tracking

These sites are static and lightweight. We do not use third-party web-analytics services (such as Google Analytics), and we do not use advertising, remarketing, or cross-context behavioral-advertising cookies, pixels, tags, or beacons.

The only information we collect automatically is the IP address and user-agent captured by our intake service when you submit a form, as described in The Information We Collect.

Web fonts. The group-health site (youbenefit.us) loads the "Inter" font from Google Fonts, which means Google may receive your IP address and basic request information in order to deliver the font. The solar site (youbenefit.solar) does not load third-party web fonts.

Browser signals. See Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control below for how we treat browser privacy signals.

10. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honor these rights for residents of states whose laws provide them, and we extend the core choices below to all of our visitors.

Choices available to everyone

Rights for residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws

Residents of states with comprehensive consumer-privacy laws — which, among the states we serve, currently include California, Colorado, Texas, and Tennessee — may have some or all of the following rights (the exact rights and timelines depend on your state's law):

California "Shine the Light"

California residents may request information about our disclosure of certain personal information to third parties for those parties' direct-marketing purposes. As explained above, we do not disclose your information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes beyond the consumer-directed routing of your quote request.

How to submit a request

You may submit a privacy request by:

  1. Email: info@youbenefitca.com (write "Privacy Request" in the subject line), or
  2. Phone: (707) 659-6555, or
  3. Mail: You Benefit — Privacy, 755 Baywood Drive, 2nd Floor, Petaluma, CA 94954.

You do not need to create an account to make a request.

How we handle requests

11. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no common industry standard for DNT, so we do not currently respond to DNT signals. Because our sites do not use advertising cookies or trackers, there is generally nothing on the site for a browser-based opt-out signal such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) to suppress. If you send a GPC or similar opt-out preference signal, we will treat it as a request to opt you out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and you may also opt out at any time using the contact methods above.

12. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, and then delete or de-identify it. Our general retention approach:

Where a fixed period is not practical, we determine retention based on the purpose for which the information was collected, our relationship with you, and our legal and regulatory obligations.

13. Security

We protect personal information using technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to a small insurance and solar agency. In particular, information you submit through our forms is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our own intake service, and the database credentials used to store your information are kept server-side and are never exposed in your browser. We limit who can access lead data.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.

14. Children's Privacy

Our sites are intended for adults and for business and insurance/solar-shopping purposes. They are not directed to children, our forms are not designed for or marketed to minors, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 (and specifically not from children under 13, consistent with the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).

Because our forms do not ask for age, we cannot always tell whether a submitter is a minor. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16, and if you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us using the information below and we will delete it.

Where your information is processed. Our services are intended for residents of the United States. Your information is processed and stored in the United States, and our service providers may access or process it from other locations. If you access our sites from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative.

Links to other sites. Our sites may link to other websites and partners, including our affiliated brand sites youbenefit.us, youbenefit.solar, and applycoverage.com, as well as carrier, advisor, and installer sites. Where we share information across our affiliated brands, this policy and the choices it provides apply as described in Section 6. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of websites we do not control. Please review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
